How can sustainable values and ethics get incorporated into policies and management practices? We are addressing this question in two ways: (1) examining cases where water policies explicity incorporate values and ethics, and then trying to learn from the process (for example, the incorporation of "cultural flows" in the Lower Murray River in Australia); and (2) networking among the diverse organizations that have an interest in ethics and their application to water management, and inviting their involvement in finding ways to do it. Both these approaches are combined in a concept proposal which we are developing, and for which we are seeking financial support.
